Job Start (http://www.state.vt.us/veda/jobstart.htm)
is a program of the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA)
that provides start-up and expansion loans of $20,000 or less
to low and moderate income Vermonters wanting to develop self-employment
opportunities.
Job Start is an ideal funding option for individuals who have
exhausted conventional sources of credit that may be available,
such as banks or credit unions, and who lack the personal assets
to undertake their self-employment project.
Applications should be submitted through your local MBDP office,
where the assistance of a business counselor is available to put
together your business plan and loan request.
In early 2001 Job Start made significant changes to its process,
greatly increasing the speed in which loan decisions are made.
